REMOTE NETWORK MONITORING

Did you ever wonder why your network was slow today, then fast tomorrow?

Is email down, so you call your provider, only to find out (after a 30 minute phone call) that the problem is on your end?

Your employees are complaining that sometimes they can connect, but other times they can’t (to the network, the server, the Internet, etc.) ?

Remote Network Monitoring (RNM) is an inexpensive alternative to costly network management systems and (in some cases) dedicated IT staff.  Providing a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week watch on your entire computer and network environment,  RNM alerts DLC engineers (and any of your employees you designate) to an anomaly the moment it occurs. This allows for appropriate response or repair in a timely fashion.  Additionally, the RNM system logs and graphs these issues, for comprehensive reporting and tracking.

Imagine being able to call your ISP to complain about poor internet connectivity, and being able to hand them a detailed report about all of their downtimes!

The RNM solution is typically bundled with another DLC support solution, however it can also be purchased separately.  The solution includes the following features:

» 24 X 7 Access to DLC’s customer portal
» 24 X 7 Access to the RNM system to be able to view your network’s status in real time
» VPN (Virtual Private Network) connectivity from your network to DLC’s RNM servers.
» 24 X 7 Monitoring of vital system statistics*
» 24 X 7 Monitoring of up/down status
» 24 X 7 Monitoring of network link / WAN link bandwidth consumption*
» Instant notification via Syslog, Email and/or SMS message for each event
» (optional) Monthly reports of network status and utilization
» (optional) Automatic response by DLC engineers to remedy emergent issues

DLC’s customer portal includes access to the following items:
» Shared workspace for DLC and your staff (tasks, calendars, worklists, etc.)
» Network configuration information, status reports, invoices and other data can be logged within the portal
» Convenient access to DLC’s RNM system to view your network, logs, graphs, etc.
» Configurable to your requirements

* Capability may vary depending on device type and its internal SNMP and/or TCP/IP capabilities.  In any case, DLC will do its best to monitor the environment and make recommendations that would enhance the monitoring solution’s capabilities.

How does this compare to other Remote Monitoring Solutions?
Typically remote monitoring services fall into two categories – “enterprise” and “budget”.  The “enterprise” services typically are high-priced, but offer enterprise-class features that may be overkill for the typical business.  “Budget” services typically load a client on each device being monitored, (making them very intrusive to the network) and let the device itself send out an alert when needed.

DLC’s RNM Solution is targeted to growing businesses by providing only the services that are needed at a very attractive price while being transparent to the network itself.  Typically organizations only use about 20% of the capabilities they have purchased in their monitoring service.  DLC provides only the features that are necessary to a business’ success and therefore can offer comparable service at a fraction of the cost.
